About the position

The Construction Technician at Mac Properties is responsible for the construction, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of buildings and grounds. This role involves a variety of tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general maintenance to ensure properties are well-maintained and ready for occupancy. The position is full-time and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry work in the construction or renovation of buildings or additions to existing structures.
  • Erect and maintain scaffolds, sheds, forms, frames, fences, and other structures.
  • Alter and repair doors, floors, partitions, stairways, windows, screens, and other fixtures.
  • Fit and glaze glass in windows and doors; maintain and repair roofs.
  • Install, replace, alter, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, traps, and faucets.
  • Make minor repairs to laundry, sterilization, and kitchen equipment.
  • Install and maintain locks and other security devices; repair or replace tumblers and springs.
  • Construct, maintain, and repair concrete and other foundations; build retaining walls and similar projects.
  • Mix mortar and lay various types of bricks and stones.
  • Lay tile, carpet, and wood flooring.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair various types of construction equipment.
  • Diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance/repair involving apartment turnover.
  • Perform electrical and plumbing repairs including rodding sewer lines.
  • Inspect vacated apartments and complete make-ready checklists.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, specifically Fair Housing regulations.
  • Ensure vacant apartments are rent-ready in a timely manner.
  • Assist with snow removal as needed.
  • Perform duties according to OSHA standards and company safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in construction as a Construction Technician.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds minimum.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to frequently use tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and safe use of basic tools.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Fair Housing regulations.
  • Ability to handle and use chemicals and general cleaning supplies.
