About the position

Stinger Bridge and Iron is seeking a qualified Project Manager to oversee all activities associated with the construction of assigned projects, primarily in the structural steel fabrication and erection sector. The role involves managing project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and maintaining project budgets while interfacing with various stakeholders to maximize production and minimize costs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities associated with the construction of assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with a team of Project Coordinators, Project Administrators, and other Project Managers.
  • Ensure all contractual terms and obligations of projects are maintained.
  • Monitor project costs and obtain permission for out-of-budget expenses from the VP of PM or Exec VP Operations.
  • Assure proper accounting for project change orders.
  • Interface with necessary departments to determine scheduling of work and materials.
  • Meet with customers and vendors to identify potential barriers and resolutions.
  • Visit job sites as needed, which may include out-of-state travel.
  • Prepare reports for management regarding project status.
  • Meet with key personnel to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Confer with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Detailers, and Plant and Field crews to verify accuracy of construction drawings.
  • Review plans and proposals to determine proper procedures for project goals.
  • Document all aspects of projects to protect Stinger's interests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of related experience as a Project/Construction Manager in the structural steel industry or 5 years as a Project Coordinator/Engineer or Assistant Project Manager with 3 years of detailing/drafting experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Business may substitute for 3 years of required experience.
  • General knowledge of fabrication and erection standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with AISC standards and AWS D1.1 & D1.5 codes.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret shop and design blueprint drawings.
  • Experience managing large multiple commercial and industrial projects.
  • General knowledge of 3D modeling / Tekla system.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a fabricator or erector may substitute for detailing/drafting experience.
