About the position

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer to lead construction management services for large underground water/wastewater conveyance infrastructure and tunnels in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role involves overseeing a team of construction management professionals, ensuring safety compliance, managing project schedules and costs, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to achieve project success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site delivery of construction management (CM) services and manage a team of CM professionals including Assistant RE/CMs, Office Engineers, Inspectors, and other CM professionals as necessary.
  • Support construction safety implementation through understanding of safety requirements and confirm contractor safety programs are submitted, approved, and followed.
  • Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, decision-making, and information tools and processes across the project.
  • Support program and project controls activities such as schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management, and reporting tools.
  • Lead project meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor contract progress and make recommendations to clients for contractor payments.
  • Build a cooperative partnership between clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and overall project success.
  • Enforce contract documents including plans and specifications.
  • Understand start-up and commissioning plans and identify associated resources as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience performing construction management, with a minimum of five (5) years in mechanized tunnel excavation.
  • EPB TBM project experience.
  • California PE, PMP or CCM certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Construction management experience working on large diameter water/wastewater (or industrial) conveyance pipelines.
  • Tunneling experience in urban settings dealing with multiple stakeholders and the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for report preparation.
  • Experience working in/for municipal agencies or utility infrastructure organizations.
  • Ability to respond proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust to changes.
  • 3rd party coordination.
