About the position

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of the construction inspector team and coordinating various construction projects, including public, residential, commercial, and military structures. This role involves managing projects from development through warranty, ensuring compliance with design specifications, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. The Construction Manager also develops project reports, manages budgets, and ensures quality and safety standards are met throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the management of the construction inspector team for daily operations and assigned tasks.
  • Oversee coordination of construction projects, including buildings, roads, memorials, and bridges.
  • Manage oversight of MILCON (Military Construction) Projects and assist with communication and coordination of meetings.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee regular and ad hoc project reports related to scope, schedule, budget, and issues.
  • Schedule and coordinate construction processes to meet design specifications.
  • Assist in providing overall construction management functions related to budget, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Evaluate contractor's evaluations, claims, and litigation matters.
  • Facilitate and answer RFIs and recommend actions in writing to contractors.
  • Assist in processing contract modifications and submissions to the COR.
  • Provide technical assistance during negotiations with contractors.
  • Facilitate pre-bid site visits, contract negotiations, and progress meetings.
  • Conduct construction contract pre-acceptance and acceptance inspections.
  • Schedule contractor-supplied training for in-house personnel.
  • Keep the organization informed of project schedules, problems, and changes.
  • Mentor and lead project team members.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Organize and schedule regular status meetings with project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management from an accredited program.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience managing construction projects in new builds and renovations.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with government or military construction projects preferred.
  • Professional engineering registration or registered architect preferred.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Value Engineering submittals.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and compliance.
