About the position

The Construction Manager will oversee the rehabilitation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Headquarters Campus at the Sugarlands Visitor Center. This role focuses on restoring and upgrading historic facilities while ensuring compliance with modern safety and utility standards. The manager will coordinate various construction activities, manage project timelines, and ensure adherence to engineering codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate multiple project components and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, permits, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and verifications of construction work to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Review as-constructed markup drawings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Create clear and concise technical documents, including reports and proposals.
  • Perform schedule and cost breakdown estimates, analyses, and negotiations.
  • Review payment invoices for accuracy and alignment with project milestones.
  • Facilitate progress and general meetings to communicate project status and issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing construction projects.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple project components.
  • Proficiency in applying and ensuring compliance with engineering codes and permits.
  • Skilled in conducting inspections and verifications of construction work.
  • Experience in reviewing markup drawings for accuracy.
  • Proficient in technical writing for reports and proposals.
  • Competency in estimating and analyzing project costs and schedules.
  • Experience in reviewing payment invoices for accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with federal government projects and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with historic preservation projects.
  • Proficiency in using Primavera Project Planner (P3), Procore, and ProjectTeam.
