About the position

The Construction Operations Manager is responsible for organizing, developing, and overseeing construction operations within the company. This role involves managing various functions related to construction field operations, ensuring safety and environmental stewardship, mentoring staff, and coordinating with other managers. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, develop, and oversee construction operations.
  • Ensure safety and environmental stewardship of sites.
  • Mentor and monitor staff, acting as a coach and role model.
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate others to achieve optimal performance.
  • Oversee daily construction operations, including scheduling equipment and manpower.
  • Coordinate trucking needs with the transportation manager.
  • Estimate and manage individual projects as needed.
  • Manage superintendents, estimators, and project managers.
  • Maintain backlog reporting for asphalt, aggregate, and crew production days.
  • Document, organize, and communicate project and personnel correspondence.
  • Assist in managing awarded projects regarding scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Participate in budget creation and management to meet financial targets.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve issues.
  • Handle personnel recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and retention.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction-related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in construction operations, scheduling, and supervisory roles required.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, project specifications, and plan set drawings.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficient in estimating and accounting software.
