About the position

The Paralegal position at a large firm in the Tampa area focuses on providing legal administrative support with a specialization in construction litigation. This full-time, in-office role requires a commitment to integrity and excellence while delivering high-quality service to clients. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in Florida construction litigation and a thorough understanding of law firm operations and administrative processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, manage, and follow through on multiple projects.
  • Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with clients, attorneys, staff, and peers.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including readiness of courtrooms and attendance at trials.
  • Conduct investigations and engage in legal research.
  • Develop draft pleadings and prepare motions for review by an assigned attorney.
  • Assist in discovery processes.
  • Act as liaison with designated outside counsel and their paralegal staff.
  • Advise the attorney on priority needs and status of assigned cases.
  • Prepare draft affidavits of documents and maintain case correspondence and document files.
  • Contact court administrators and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Write memoranda to summarize research results.
  • Handle large and complex document productions, including retrieval, review, and upload to databases.
  • Cite-check and edit legal documents.
  • Maintain documents, transcripts, and work product databases.
  • Organize and prepare exhibit lists and privilege logs; knowledge of Relativity is helpful.
  • Coordinate work with outside document/litigation vendors.
  • Track and bill professional time to client files.
  • Manage electronic and paper case files.

Requirements

  • Significant Florida construction litigation experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of law firms and practice-specific administrative processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in information technology systems and research tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for drafting and proofreading legal documents.
  • Experience working in a mid to large-sized firm and collaborating with various departments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Relativity for document management.
  • Experience with court rules and procedures related to filing pleadings.
