About the position

The Construction Project Accountant at R.L. Baxter Building Corporation is responsible for supporting the project team in the administration and accounting of construction projects. This role involves managing contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and project reports, ensuring compliance with financial and contractual requirements, and assisting in cost management and project reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project team with the preparation of client contracts, including gathering and organizing required exhibits and insurance documents.
• Administer subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with Baxter procedures and proper project closeout.
• Generate project cost reports, ensuring accuracy and correcting discrepancies in consultation with the project team.
• Prepare timely and accurate billing, compiling required backup including subcontractor lien waivers.
• Track the progress of billings and maintain cash flow projections for company leadership.
• Ensure each project has up-to-date cost projections, change order logs, and cash flow projections.
• Properly enter and set up new projects in Jonas, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
• Assist project team in tracking and distributing closeout documents and final cost reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• Experience in a cost accounting area of the construction industry is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and understanding of construction cost accounting concepts are necessary.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Proficiency in construction cost accounting software, such as Jonas Premier, is required.
• Experience with MS Office Suite and Bluebeam or Adobe is necessary.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, are required.
