About the position

The Construction Project Coordinator for the Department of General Services (DGS) in the South Central Region of Pennsylvania is responsible for overseeing a team of Assistant Construction Project Coordinators and managing a portfolio of construction and renovation projects across various Commonwealth agency facilities. This role requires daily travel to multiple job sites, ensuring projects are completed in accordance with specifications, schedules, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of Assistant Construction Project Coordinators in managing capital improvement projects.
  • Direct the management of construction and renovation projects through subordinate staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction on project schedules and construction issues.
  • Attend pre-construction and construction meetings, ensuring follow-up on action items and concerns.
  • Serve as a liaison with client agencies, professionals, and contractors.
  • Assist in preparing project specifications and ensure compliance with approved plans and regulations.
  • Review and monitor project progress, including extensions of time and change orders.
  • Generate documents and reports using construction software and IT systems.
  • Represent the department in claims or disputes and ensure effective customer care.

Requirements

  • One year as an Assistant Construction Project Coordinator, DGS; or
  • Five years of professional building construction administration, construction planning, or construction project engineering experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possess and maintain an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervisory skills and experience.
  • Experience in Commercial, Institutional, and Educational Construction and Renovation projects.
  • Working knowledge of a Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule and Multi-Prime Contractors.
  • Experience in writing correspondence to contractors and clients regarding project issues.
  • Experience conducting construction meetings.
  • Understanding of Change Orders and ability to evaluate and process them in eBuilder.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and/or Construction Management Software.
