About the position

As a Construction Project Coordinator at Nucor Rebar Fabrication Northeast, you will play a crucial role in assisting the project team with the coordination of detailed projects. This includes ensuring proper recordkeeping, managing the on-time delivery of materials, and overseeing change order management. Your efforts will contribute to cultivating a positive customer service environment, which is essential for maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. You will be expected to adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards, demonstrating conduct that aligns with the company's vision and values. In this position, you will initiate contact with customers at the start of each project and maintain proactive communication throughout the project lifecycle. This involves coordinating project requirements with contractors and detailers to ensure that all drawings and contracted materials are delivered according to the customer's schedule. You will also attend site meetings as necessary to support Nucor's customer focus and produce essential documents while coordinating orders within the company's business system. Your responsibilities will extend to assisting your supervisor in reviewing projects and resolving any discrepancies that may arise. You will need to maintain a comprehensive contract file, monitor lump sums for over-runs, and manage final invoicing. Additionally, you will be responsible for placing orders for non-rebar products and tracking change orders through the business system. Developing a working knowledge of the CRSI Manual of Standard Practice, reinforced concrete construction, and detailing and fabrication practices will be vital to your success in this role. You may also be required to perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team in the coordination of detailed projects including proper recordkeeping, on-time delivery of materials, and change order management.
  • Cultivate a positive customer service environment.
  • Contact customer at the start of each project and be proactive throughout the project in coordinating all aspects of the job.
  • Coordinate project requirements with contractor and detailer to ensure submittal of drawings and the delivery of all contracted material meets customer's schedule.
  • Attend site meetings with the detailer as required to support Nucor Rebar Fabrication's customer focus.
  • Produce necessary documents and coordinate orders in Nucor Rebar Fabrication's business system.
  • Assist supervisor in the review of projects; help resolve discrepancies.
  • Understand Nucor Rebar Fabrication's standard contract management procedures and maintain contract file, monitor lump sums for over-runs and final invoicing.
  • Place non-rebar product orders.
  • Control the contract with the use of Nucor Rebar Fabrication's business system.
  • Track change-orders through business system.
  • Develop a working knowledge of CRSI Manual of Standard Practice, reinforced concrete construction and other industry practices.
  • Develop a working knowledge of detailing and fabrication practices.
  • Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • High school diploma, GED, or local/state equivalent.
  • Three years of project coordination experience or high-level administrative experience.
  • Experience with rebar detailing and the fabrication process is a must.
  • Possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to creatively problem-solve.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of standard business practices.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year experience in construction environment preferred.
  • Two year degree from accredited school or college, preferably in Construction Management or Architectural Engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of reinforcing bar detailing.
  • Experience in customer relations and resolving problems or disputes.
