About the position

The Construction Project Engineer at the Genesee County Road Commission is responsible for overseeing civil engineering tasks related to road, bridge, culvert, and storm sewer design projects. This role involves supervising lower classified employees, interpreting and enforcing contract specifications, and ensuring projects are completed from inception to final completion. The position requires strong decision-making skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships while adhering to public statutes and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction projects and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
• Assign and supervise the work of lower classified employees.
• Prepare cost estimates for construction projects.
• Conduct grade inspections and review plans for roads and bridges.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge in civil engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of three years of experience related to public works projects.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Michigan is desirable.
• Experience in Bridge Inspection and Evaluation is desirable.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD applications.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License.
