About the position

The Fresh Market is seeking a Construction/Development Project Manager (DPM) to oversee a portfolio of store development projects from site selection to store opening. The DPM will collaborate with internal and external teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for resource management, detailed planning, execution, and maintaining quality assurance in design packages to meet company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex portfolio of development and construction projects, including existing store remodels.
  • Define and document program scope, delivery terms, and business objectives.
  • Organize and manage program teams with diverse skill sets, including architecture, engineering, and contractors.
  • Validate resource allocation to meet program requirements.
  • Manage internal and external relationships related to programs, clarifying roles and expectations.
  • Monitor resource allocation, cost loading, and expenditures against approved CAPEX.
  • Provide guidance to internal and external teams, ensuring achievable project schedules.
  • Identify, assess, and develop mitigation plans for program risks.
  • Develop program metrics and milestone reporting for transparency.
  • Create and manage communication plans to keep stakeholders informed about progress and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in project/program management.
  • 7-10 years of program/project or process management experience.
  • Experience in grocery store construction.
  • Strong leadership and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Team player with a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze program processes and trends for improvement.
  • Proficient in estimating, scheduling, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software, particularly MS Office.
  • Knowledge of real estate development, architectural, engineering, and construction tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40%.
  • Ability to handle materials/equipment up to 80lbs.
  • Ability to conduct walkthroughs in various construction environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP or CSM certification.
  • Knowledge of CAD software.
  • Experience in urban grocery.
