About the position

The position involves managing the design and construction of various capital projects for Salt Lake County. The role is focused on ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations. It requires strong leadership skills to coordinate with consultants, contractors, and various stakeholders while promoting a positive work environment that values community service.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the planning, design, and construction of multiple capital renewal, replacement, and development projects for County facilities.
• Develop and implement a work plan and programs for the projects.
• Hire and supervise consultants and consultant teams for project design and construction documentation.
• Obtain necessary approvals and permits for construction projects from regulatory agencies.
• Manage the bidding process for construction projects and ensure contractor compliance with specifications.
• Administer and manage the construction process throughout the duration of each capital project, including budget management and resource identification.
• Assist County agencies in preparing funding requests for capital projects and manage project budgets and schedules.
• Communicate and coordinate with project stakeholders throughout the project duration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Three years of experience in construction management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver's license accepted by the State of Utah.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of construction delivery methods and regulations.
• Experience with project budgeting and construction cost estimating.
• Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
