About the position

The Senior Project Manager at APX Construction Group is responsible for leading and managing complex commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This role emphasizes adherence to project management best practices while fostering a supportive, people-first culture that prioritizes safety and community impact. The position requires a proactive approach to project execution, from pre-construction planning to project closeout, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project team in project startup tasks, including pre-construction design development, budgeting, and estimating.
  • Assist the estimating team in attending pre-bid meetings, performing quantity take-offs, soliciting subcontractor proposals, and submitting bids to clients.
  • Manage permit submission and approval processes.
  • Execute and manage subcontract agreements and project plans.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Create, distribute, and collect submittals for project manager review.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining overall project schedules and trade partner coordination.
  • Function as the main point of contact with the owner and on-site representative during project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with APX safety requirements by trade partners and project teams.
  • Document meeting minutes at subcontractor or owner meetings and distribute them post-meeting.
  • Create, distribute, and review Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Update and distribute construction drawings and specifications as part of project documentation.
  • Conduct inspections prior to city inspections, including concrete, in-wall, and above ceiling inspections.
  • Prepare reports regarding job status and maintain city inspection records.
  • Conduct site checks to monitor progress and quality standards.
  • Lead customer service visits throughout the project lifecycle to ensure commitments are met and issues are resolved.
  • Manage financial aspects of the projects, including conducting quantity take-offs, completing project projections, and managing change orders.
  • Review and approve subcontractor payment applications and material supplier invoices.
  • Complete monthly owner payment applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or business-related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience in Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of project management experience, including 3+ years in commercial construction.
  • Certified in OSHA 10 or 30 (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, practices, and tools.
  • Proficiency in project management software, including ProCore and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement project plans and documents.
  • Ability to multitask and exercise independent judgment related to daily project administration.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster positive professional relationships.
