About the position

The Real Estate and Construction Project Manager at Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the construction and renovation of facilities. This position is responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, from inception to closeout, ensuring that all projects align with HHC's mission to provide safe, efficient, and effective patient care. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with various departments, including Facilities, Security, Safety, Legal, Purchasing, Accounting, and Compliance, to maintain the functionality and safety of HHC facilities. The focus is on transforming these facilities to meet regulatory, quality, financial, and operational goals. In this role, the Project Manager will lead the planning, performance, and implementation of real estate and construction projects, while also managing ongoing capital project requests. The individual will ensure that existing functions are properly documented and located, and may occasionally perform administrative support duties for the Real Estate and Facilities leadership team. The position requires staying informed about new developments in healthcare facilities, construction methods, and materials, and actively participating in meetings and committees to support HHC operations. The Project Manager must maintain confidentiality regarding the corporation's strategic plans and strive to incorporate quality, performance improvement, and regulatory readiness in all actions related to facilities planning and design. This role also involves creating project specifications, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, all while fostering a sustainable environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall execution of construction and renovation projects from inception to closeout.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure the safe use and functioning of all HHC facilities.
  • Lead planning, performance, and implementation of real estate and construction projects.
  • Assist in resolving problems concerning design, construction, and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to strategic plans.
  • Provide oversight of standards, policies, protocols, and procedures for facilities planning and design.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, vendors, and senior leaders.
  • Create project specifications and requirements for competitive bids and negotiations.
  • Prepare reports on construction progress and financial performance.
  • Coordinate with design teams to develop project designs that meet goals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manage communication between project stakeholders, including architects and contractors.
  • Visit construction sites to ensure compliance with planning, quality, and safety standards.
  • Assist with community and public relations related to projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in interior design, architecture, or construction-related management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project development, design, or construction, with 1-3 years in a healthcare environment.
  • Fluency in AutoCad, Revit, or other graphic design tools for at least 2-3 years.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with all levels of the organization and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of design/construction techniques, scheduling, construction law, and healthcare building codes.

Nice-to-haves
