About the position

The Construction Project Manager at NTT DATA is a key role responsible for overseeing multiple high-value data center construction projects. This position focuses on ensuring project success through effective management of safety, schedule, scope, budget, and quality. The role involves leading project teams, developing client relationships, and coordinating with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of professionals to safely deliver major capital construction projects of significant value.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, operations, finance, and internal department leaders.
  • Direct and support project teams in the preparation and execution of tasks throughout all phases of the project process.
  • Oversee General Contractor and direct contractors to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Act as the primary liaison to the NTT GDC Americas, Inc. Design Managers for coordination of Architecture/Engineering activities.
  • Integrate Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to support design and lead construction teams.
  • Support Design team leadership for environmental, entitlement, and permitting requirements.
  • Provide guidance to project delivery resources/team in achieving project goals.
  • Implement communication plans for meetings and written reports to keep clients informed.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for GC/subs and specialty vendor selection.
  • Facilitate project meetings and ensure project data integrity and documentation accuracy.
  • Report status and variances, creating action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.
  • Assess and quantify change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.
  • Optimize project cost effectiveness and budget utilization including constructability reviews and Value Engineering.
  • Implement and lead project level management tasks including contract status, finance, and budget updates.
  • Develop and implement project level financial controls and claims resolutions.
  • Validate drawings and specifications to ensure desired construction quality.
  • Ensure all field installations are in accordance with the design.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and assure systems for project safety standards.
  • Provide leadership to confirm all Contractors and Suppliers follow safety best practices.
  • Monitor and control risk management insurance and liability controls for assigned projects.
  • Lead construction management monthly project meetings and present executive summary and status reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, construction management or relevant field required.
  • 5+ years' experience in General and/or Specialty Construction Project Management with a focus in data center or similar mission critical facilities construction.
  • Experience in managing $100M+ projects.
  • Experience in urban environments with difficult logistics and fast-track schedules.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety standards including fire protection regulations.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong capability and expertise in Primavera, MS Project, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Construction Management, and Data Centers.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in dealing with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of prime contracts including lump sum, GMP, hard bid, negotiated, design-build, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of P6 Critical Path Scheduling Systems and overall project cost control.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of Development design and Construction.
