About the position

The Construction Project Manager III will assist faculty and staff at the University of Florida in articulating their architectural and engineering needs during the planning and development phases. This role involves representing the AVP of Planning, Design, and Construction (PD&C) at various conferences, coordinating project requirements, and overseeing the construction and renovation of university buildings with budgets ranging from $2 million to over $100 million. The position also includes training and mentoring junior project managers, developing policies and procedures, and preparing architectural and engineering programs for campus facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist UF faculty and staff in presenting architectural and engineering needs to architects and engineers.
  • Represent the AVP of PD&C at planning and construction conferences.
  • Conduct special studies and projects assigned by the AVP.
  • Coordinate the requirements of UF with the needs of building occupants in planning and design.
  • Plan, design, and monitor construction and renovation of UF buildings with budgets from $2M to $100M+.
  • Train and develop FP&C Project Managers Level I and II in project management duties.
  • Work with the Director and Assistant Director of Training to develop new policies and procedures.
  • Assist in developing an orientation program for new project managers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Managers I and II.
  • Recommend budgetary needs for training programs.
  • Develop goals, policies, procedures, and standards with AVP and Directors.
  • Prepare architectural and engineering facilities programs for campus buildings.
  • Operate department assigned state motor vehicles for project job sites.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning or building construction and eight years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of experience with emphasis in institutional facilities and construction administration.
  • Proficient in using Revit Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other computer applications for specification writing and project drawings development.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, building construction, or a related field.
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) credential.
  • License in field.
