About the position

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking a Construction Records Auditor I for its Tyler District Headquarters located at 2709 W Front St, Tyler, TX. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding construction projects. The auditor will be responsible for auditing construction project records, verifying contractor compliance, and training others in record-keeping procedures. The role requires independent work on assignments, with unusual issues being referred to a supervisor. The auditor will also act as a liaison with the Federal Highway Administration and assist in departmental reviews of construction records. In addition to auditing, the Construction Records Auditor I will monitor material testing requirements and results to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Participation in meetings regarding contract administration is also a key responsibility. The auditor will perform and review construction records audits, coordinating with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements, and work orders. Training less experienced recordkeepers and records auditors is another essential duty of this position. The auditor will also verify contractors' compliance with federal requirements for Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and on-the-job training, as well as Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements. This position offers a salary range of $42,521 to $67,671 per year, with opportunities for advancement and professional development. The work schedule is full-time during the day shift, and the role requires some travel, estimated at 10% of the time. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies.
  • No experience required; related college education or relevant technical training may substitute for experience on a year-per-year basis.
  • Valid driver's license required for driving a state vehicle.
