About the position

The Construction Risk Engineer at FM is responsible for delivering risk engineering products and services that enhance the resilience of construction projects for FM Renewables clients. This role focuses on risk identification, assessment, and improvement, ensuring a seamless transition to operational risk while reducing exposure to construction-related loss events. The engineer will provide consulting services, evaluate insured exposures, and work closely with various stakeholders to develop robust project guidelines and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver construction risk engineering products and services to enhance project resilience.
  • Identify, assess, and improve construction-related risks and loss prevention strategies.
  • Consult with clients and contractors on risk identification, prevention, and mitigation.
  • Evaluate insured exposures and loss control practices to provide risk assessments and recommendations.
  • Partner with external engineering experts to assess complex construction risks.
  • Create and deliver engineering-focused presentations to clients and partners.
  • Complete detailed project servicing strategies and plans to prevent future financial loss.
  • Participate in industry committees and groups to influence resilient design and construction practices.
  • Communicate project service plans and evolving construction risk quality to support profitable underwriting.

Requirements

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5 years of relevant construction safety management or construction risk engineering experience.
  • Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Program (PMP) certification required.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Health and Safety Specialist (CHST) certifications preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in renewable energy construction projects.
  • Knowledge of multi-crane lifts, wet works, and tunneling risks.
