About the position

The Construction Safety Officer forms, reviews, updates, and enforces safety guidelines for construction within the healthcare environment. The Construction Safety Officer performs environmental rounding to evaluate the impact active construction projects may have on the Network with regards to life safety, infection control, air quality, utility disruptions, noise, vibration, and security to ensure safety of all occupants and in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) general construction guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the department's construction safety programs and updates as required to incorporate industries best practices and changes in regulatory requirements of all local, state, and federal governing agencies, departments, and/or guidelines.
  • Manages the contractor and/or vendor on-boarding process to ensure requirements are met to include training, badging, and conducting orientation.
  • Conducts project specific risk assessments with Network staff in order to determine risk mitigation measures to be implemented during periods of construction.
  • Monitors, measures, and works closely with the Construction Project Manager to ensure the compliance of regulatory requirements and risk mitigation measures during periods of construction.
  • Manages regulatory documentation for projects and works closely with the Construction Project Manager to close out and archive completed projects.
  • Regularly performs environmental rounding to evaluate the impact active construction projects may have on the Network.
  • Facilitates and manages staff training for construction projects as required.
  • Works closely with the Construction Project Manager, contractors, and vendors to ensure construction barriers are maintained in their appearance and integrity.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Specialized training and/or education in construction from an accredited vocational program.
  • 3 plus years' experience working in Construction and Safety.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree or formal training from an accredited 2 year Construction or related Vocational Program.
  • 5 plus years' construction and safety experience in Healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of Interim Life Safety Measure (ILSM) and Infection Prevention and Control within a healthcare environment.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30 Hour (or more) Certification.
