About the position
The Construction Safety Professional at WPS, LLC is responsible for ensuring safety compliance on industrial and commercial construction sites. This role involves reviewing safety plans, conducting inspections, and fostering relationships with contractors and project managers to promote a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Review daily safe work plans developed by contractors, recommend adjustments, and provide monitoring.
- Conduct regular jobsite and work area inspections.
- Conduct formal weekly jobsite inspections noting safety issues and corrective actions.
- Record, notify, and prepare written reports of any safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Collect and track contractor safety observations for the project.
- Review incident reports from contractors and generate proper supporting reports.
- Ensure incidents are reported and appropriate risk-reduction measures are implemented.
- Foster collaborative relationships with Owners, CM partner(s), and Safety Managers.
- Assist in the development and maintain Lessons Learned communications for the project.
- Attend and participate in owner-contractor project progress meetings as necessary.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience working on industrial or commercial construction projects.
- Well-versed in 29 CFR 1926 regulations and construction industry standards with applicable certifications: OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 40.
- Preferred experience/certification with Crane lift plans and operations, JHA/JSA/SPA development and review, Excavation/Trenching and shoring, Confined space operations.
- Proficient in creating spreadsheets, word documents, and using mobile devices for safety inspections/audits.
- Strong initiative (self-starter), problem-solving, and communication skills.
