About the position

The Construction Sales Account Manager (CSAM) will be responsible for generating new revenue and retaining existing customers in the Northwest Arkansas territory. This hybrid role involves a combination of hunting for new business (60% of the time) and farming existing accounts (40% of the time). The CSAM will utilize a consultative selling approach to manage business relationships, achieve sales goals, and handle customer service escalations.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new revenue by cold calling and prospecting (60%) and retaining current customers (40%).
  • Manage existing business relationships to achieve budgeted sales goals.
  • Develop and implement sound retention strategies to preserve business.
  • Handle customer cancellation requests and secure contract agreements from non-contracted customers.
  • Provide ongoing education of contract details to existing customers.
  • Attend conferences and symposiums for networking and industry knowledge.
  • Develop detailed proposals encompassing multiple services.
  • Research aspects of the waste and environmental services business.
  • Build trusting relationships with clients.
  • Provide high-impact communication and identify relevant regulations.
  • Manage prospects and maintain key information in the prospect database.
  • Reduce lost major accounts by diffusing cancellation requests and improving customer service.
  • Match WM services with customer needs and effectively communicate pricing and service strategies.
  • Propose customer solutions compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilize WM sales productivity software tools for sales management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of sales experience.
  • 1 year of direct business-to-business sales experience, preferably in a construction setting.
  • 20 hours of training with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
  • Certifications such as WM CRA and involvement in relevant organizations (e.g., USGBC, AIA, AGC).
  • Ability to convert customer cancellation requests and complex negotiation skills.
