About the position

The Construction Site Safety Officer (SSHO) at RQC, LLC is responsible for ensuring safety compliance on military construction projects located in Kings Bay, GA. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing safety protocols in accordance with various safety standards and regulations, while collaborating with the project team to maintain a safe working environment. The SSHO will oversee daily activities and may have direct reports, ensuring that all safety administrative and performance requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, organize, implement, and execute all safety administrative and performance requirements for assigned projects.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications, EM-385, OSHA, and RQ internal Safety Management System.
  • Integrate fully with the project team to support safe production of quality work.
  • Provide oversight to daily activities for assigned direct reports.
  • Conduct safety training and maintain documentation of safety training for all personnel on site.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of applied work experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Five or more years of experience in construction safety management at the jobsite level.
  • Competent person training or experience in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Electrical, Trenching/Excavation, PPE, and Scaffolding.
  • Five or more consecutive years of documented safety training, averaging 24 hours per year.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour certifications (within the past 5 years).
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications such as CHST, OHST, and ASP through BCSP.
  • Experience with NAVFAC and USACE clients.
  • Specific software literacy in Viewpoint and RMS/QCS.
  • Other related professional degrees or certificates.
