Construction Superintendent - UIC Nappairit, LLC

About the position

The Superintendent position at Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) involves overseeing the construction of civil and vertical structures in remote Alaska. This role requires supervising work crews and subcontractors, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations, and managing project logistics. The position is temporary and demands a commitment to worker safety and quality control in a challenging work environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise UICN work crews and subcontractors in all aspects of commercial construction.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications, and correct shop drawings.
• Maintain project schedules and ensure adherence to UICC Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure worker safety and maintain an accident-free work environment in compliance with OSHA rules.
• Perform Quality Control functions and manage craft labor, equipment, and materials.
• Work with the Project Manager to budget, forecast, and manage project resources.
• Understand logistics related to barging and air cargo efforts.
• Unload, stage, and store materials, food, and equipment as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 15 years of construction experience preferred.
• 7-10 years' experience in a supervisory role preferred.
• Familiarity with specific project and owner's representatives.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• OSHA 30 hour certification and OSHA Competent Person certification required.
• Ability to operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.
• Reliable and punctual work history.
