About the position

The Construction Supervisor at Benton Technical Services (BTS) is responsible for leading and overseeing construction teams in the execution of fiber optic projects. This role focuses on ensuring that construction goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The supervisor will coordinate with various stakeholders, manage schedules, and provide feedback to the leadership team on performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all construction department staff including Construction Coordinator, Foreman, Operators, and Trainees.
  • Manages construction staff schedules and workflow.
  • Prepares project scopes and coordinates with contractors and vendors to complete areas on schedule.
  • Handles permit coordination and compliance including activation, inspection scheduling, certification, and closeout.
  • Approves and coordinates Traffic Control Plans.
  • Documents redlined as-built information on construction plans.
  • Participates in weekly planning meetings with District staff to review projects and resources.
  • Organizes and prioritizes work activities using efficient time management skills.
  • Maintains positive relations with the public, jurisdictional agencies, and contractors.
  • Monitors and provides direction to Plow Operators and HDD Drillers to achieve production goals.
  • Enforces the company's safety program to meet safety objectives.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Telecommunications, Operations Management, or Business Administration preferred or applicable OSP Construction work experience.
  • 5+ years of prior supervisory experience.
  • Experience in permitting and dealing with municipalities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong work ethic.
  • Basic PC skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience in all aspects of underground telecom construction.
  • Advanced knowledge of outside plant construction functions for both copper and fiber.
  • Hands-on directional boring experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of electronics, electrical circuitry, network installation, maintenance, and testing of central offices.
