About the position

Progress Residential is the largest provider of high-quality, single-family rental homes in the United States, with over 90,000 homes across rapidly growing markets. We are committed to making the home rental process easy and enjoyable for our residents by empowering our team members and investing in innovative systems and technology. We are currently seeking a Construction Technician to join our Construction Services team, responsible for providing outstanding maintenance and repair services for vacant homes efficiently and effectively. This role requires excellent customer service skills and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assess service request jobs and determine necessary steps to resolve them.
  • Complete electronic forms and service requests with accurate job notes and photographs.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and represent Progress Residential's standards.
  • Conduct business in accordance with company policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in field and formal training related to service provision.
  • Maintain fleet vehicle and inventory within company guidelines.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs, preventative maintenance, property inspections, and service requests on various systems including electrical, plumbing, A/C, appliances, and more.
  • Report all major repairs and requisitions prior to any expenditure of funds.
  • Ensure workplace safety standards and practices are upheld.
  • Complete all assigned work in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance and excellent punctuality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver's License in the working state.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in residential maintenance, service, and repair.
  • Ability to assess condition and diagnose malfunctions within a residential structure.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, diagnosis, and repair of residential homes.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience servicing residential appliances.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in residential plumbing systems and fixtures maintenance.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in residential electrical systems maintenance.
  • Employee must provide their own basic tools for diagnostics and service.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with handheld computers.
