About the position

The Consultant role in Nationwide's Strategy and Corporate Development Office focuses on driving digital innovation within the insurance and financial services industry. This position serves as a liaison among the Digital Product Manager, product owners, and key team members to develop product vision and strategy, ensuring that user needs are met while enhancing the overall user experience. The role requires collaboration across teams to achieve project goals and priorities, contributing to the growth and brand choice of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Digital Product Manager and other Digital Product Owners to execute on the solution vision/roadmap.
  • Serve as the customer and business proxy to developers and agile delivery teams for a digital product and/or experience impacting a line of business.
  • Define, prioritize, and groom the agile delivery team's product backlog to ensure continuous delivery.
  • Develop, prioritize, and manage epics and user stories for the delivery team.
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings, grooming meetings, project status meetings, sprint planning, and review meetings.
  • Drive near-term objectives planning by overlaying the prioritized backlog against fixed time blocks to manage interdependencies and coordination across development teams.
  • Participate in planning and execution of user acceptance testing, triage issues, and work with the development team to resolve challenges.
  • Define, monitor, and analyze metrics that inform the success of the digital solution(s).
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in business administration, digital marketing, human-computer interaction, user experience, computer science or related subject area.
  • Typically, eight or more years of demonstrated experience delivering customer-facing digital solutions, internet sales, website or web application development and/or research.
  • Experience with agile delivery methodologies and product management/owner principles.
  • Project management in an internet sales environment required.
  • Understanding of key digital technologies in the focus area assigned required.
  • Understanding of agile delivery methodologies and product owner/manager practices required.
  • Proven ability to manage digital efforts with moderate technical complexity for a line of business and/or experience.
  • Strong ability to communicate with cross-functional agile teams including technology developers, user experience, business, marketing and other product owners and managers.
  • Ability to analyze data, results and metrics to set backlog priorities.
  • Strong project and process management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Property/casualty insurance and/or life/health/accident/variable annuity licensing and/or FINRA 6 and 26 securities registration, CLU, CPCU, CPU, FLMI certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of user experience principles and practices a plus.
