About the position

FM Global is a market-leading property insurer that provides engineering-based risk management and property insurance solutions to some of the world's largest businesses. With nearly two centuries of experience, FM Global helps clients maintain continuity in their operations by leveraging state-of-the-art loss-prevention engineering and research. As a Consultant Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in advising clients on risks associated with their businesses and developing strategies to improve risk management. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with influential organizations, assessing a wide range of industrial facility hazards, including fire, explosion, and structural risks. In this role, you will begin with assignments of limited scope and complexity, allowing you to learn FM's loss prevention expertise under the guidance of experienced mentors. As you progress, you will take on more complex assessments at larger industrial sites. The position requires a strong engineering background, particularly in the chemical industry, where you will assess risks related to complex process equipment such as reactors and distillation columns. You will also be expected to apply consistent risk assessment and mitigation guidance, prepare technical reports, and collaborate with various departments to develop effective risk management strategies. The Consultant Engineer II position is based in the greater Cincinnati/Southern Ohio area, allowing for remote work from a home office. You will be expected to manage your time effectively, meet report delivery timelines, and work independently with minimal supervision. The role involves approximately 30% overnight travel, primarily within a 2 to 3-hour radius of your home office, with potential visits to client locations in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and upstate New York.
