About the position

The Consultant Industrial Cybersecurity role at Burns & McDonnell involves planning, designing, developing, and implementing technical controls and policies related to cybersecurity compliance and regulatory standards. The position requires conducting network penetration tests and vulnerability assessments, analyzing operational issues, and developing secure process control network designs. The consultant will also be responsible for maintaining industry-recognized IT certifications and communicating technical issues to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Execute planning, design, development, and implementation of technical controls and policies for cybersecurity compliance.
  • Identify and diagnose operational issues and implement design alterations to address these issues.
  • Conduct network penetration tests and vulnerability assessments of IT and Operational Technology (OT) networks.
  • Perform detailed post-event analysis of unusual events and direct needed procedure or process changes.
  • Pursue, obtain, and maintain industry-recognized IT certifications related to cybersecurity.
  • Resolve technical issues and analyze implications to the client's business, communicating them with stakeholders.
  • Develop policies and procedures for secure process control network design and technical recommendations for network security controls.
  • Compile technical documentation of network traffic and firewall services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field plus four years of experience in cybersecurity.
  • Experience with cybersecurity controls: firewalls, access control, authentication, anti-virus/antimalware, patching, and logging.
  • Experience conducting cybersecurity vulnerability assessments with NESSUS.
  • Experience with Industrial Control Systems utilized by utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, smart buildings, and cities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PPT, Word).
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field plus three years of experience in cybersecurity.
