About the position

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to join the Information Systems & Digital Innovation Section (SEC/ISD) at its headquarters in Washington, DC. This position is integral to the IDB's mission of improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean through innovative technology solutions. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems that support the IDB and IIC Boards of Governors and Executive Directors, as well as providing advisory assistance and logistical support for various meetings and seminars organized by the Bank's departments. As a Full Stack Developer, you will play a pivotal role in creating reusable code and libraries for future projects, ensuring the maintenance and support of existing systems, and actively participating in the execution of Digital Transformation initiatives. This includes the development, testing, and implementation of systems and integrations. You will also provide valuable post-implementation support to users, assisting with process modifications and resolving production problems. Additionally, you will introduce and test new technologies in pilot implementations to enhance their effectiveness and deployment. The role requires collaboration with other team members and stakeholders, ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner. You will be expected to build long-term client relationships and leverage those relationships to improve workflow efficiency. Responsibilities

  • Create reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Provide maintenance and support for currently existing systems.
  • Participate in the execution of the Digital Transformation projects and activities, including system & integrations development, testing and implementation.
  • Provide post-implementation support to users for the modification of processes and the solutions of production problems.
  • Introduce new technologies in pilot implementations to test their value and accelerate their effective deployment and implementation.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Act as a team player with the ability to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding, collaborative team on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Build long-term client relationships and leverage those relationships to make workflow more efficient.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Information Systems or other relevant fields.
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in software development and implementation.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as ASP.NET, C#, and JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including Angular and React.
  • Solid knowledge in software systems' design.
  • Hands-on experience with scalable web applications and responsive web design.
  • Experience with SQL Server; knowledge of MongoDB is desirable.
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Linux OS.
  • Knowledge of Jira, Git, and Scrum methodology.
  • Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as TypeScript, Ember, Knockout, Underscore, Require JS, Kendo UI, AngularJS, jQuery, Knockout JS, BackboneJS, React, Vue.js.
  • Experience in developing applications for cloud environments.
