About the position

The Consultant, Sales Enablement role at Ciena is focused on developing and executing sales enablement strategies that empower the sales team to enhance customer engagement. This position collaborates with various teams, including Learning & Development and Regional Sales Operations, to create effective training programs and tools that align with Ciena's strategic goals. The role emphasizes a people-first culture, aiming to motivate and develop sales personnel through comprehensive training and support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales enablement strategy and framework aligned to Ciena's strategic plan.
  • Contribute to the roadmap for Global Customer Engagement priorities and future skills.
  • Develop documented strategy/implementation for Global Sales training in partnership with L&D and sales regions.
  • Administer approved enablement-focused budget in collaboration with the enterprise L&D team.
  • Ensure account planning processes reflect business needs and align with planning tools.
  • Lead sales coaching and account/deal coaching initiatives.
  • Identify focus areas, gaps, and regional considerations as part of the global framework.
  • Leverage external insights to enhance Ciena's enablement strategy.
  • Partner with sales technology and process teams to align training with processes and technology.
  • Incorporate Sales Technology training into the overall curriculum.
  • Collaborate with sales operations and marketing operations teams.
  • Streamline communications targeted at sales to advocate for the field.
  • Ensure training content is accessible and well-managed within learning repositories.
  • Ensure curriculum meets business needs for product positioning and customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years college degree (major: communications or adult learning) or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Real life Sales/BD customer facing experience or Enablement experience with a Sales force.
  • Understanding of the sales cycle in a company like Ciena's.
  • Proven ability to execute and measure outcomes with a programmatic approach.
  • Clear and concise communication skills for diverse global sales stakeholders.
  • Motivated by emerging technology (AI) and digital transformation.
  • Experience in operationalizing sales programs (i.e. SPIFF, Surveys, Contests).
