About the position

The Supply Chain Inventory/Purchasing Consultant at Cardinal Health plays a crucial role in managing supplier relationships and ensuring the timely delivery of products. This position involves developing sales forecasts, aligning inventory strategies, and facilitating Sales and Operations meetings to balance demand and supply. The consultant is responsible for maintaining inventory levels, analyzing service failures, and collaborating with suppliers to drive improvements in the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 60-100 Brand supplier relationships, facilitating or attending in-person and virtual meetings with suppliers.
  • Plan inventory levels for approximately 8,000 SKUs with an average on hand of $2B.
  • Align inventory strategy with Sourcing to meet service and inventory requirements.
  • Review order exceptions before placing purchase orders consistent with stocking strategies.
  • Manage supplier portfolio to key metrics such as DIOH, service level, lead time, and minimum order quantities.
  • Ensure accurate demand forecasting by reviewing trends and incorporating customer/market insights.
  • Maintain purchasing systems parameters for assigned supplier portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary inventory contact for the supplier and hold regular meetings to ensure a solid supply plan.
  • Collaborate/negotiate effectively with suppliers and stakeholders to manage issues and drive improvements.
  • Proactively analyze service failures to mitigate future issues, including the placement of emergency purchase orders.
  • Manage the release of backordered products into the supply chain.
  • Assist in the execution of new manufacturers, new product launches, and item replacements.
  • Create and maintain product availability messaging via manufacturer backorder reports.
  • Participate and/or lead projects, managing project milestones to completion and improving department workflow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supply chain or purchasing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data trends using reporting tools.
  • Experience with purchasing systems such as SCORE or SAP is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical end-to-end supply chain concepts and financial acumen.
  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships and influence outcomes for internal and external customers.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Looker, Alteryx, and Tableau for data analysis.
  • Ability to conduct fact-based negotiations to positively impact Cardinal Health and its customers.
  • Experience in demand planning and inventory management.
