About the position

The Consultant, Tax Planning & Advisory role at Lincoln Financial Group involves providing support and direction on complex tax planning projects within the Corporate Finance area. The position focuses on researching, assessing, and implementing tax planning opportunities at various governmental levels, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives while acting as a resource for internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist documentation of tax accounting impacts from transactions including M&A activities and associated due diligence processes.
  • Research, model, and analyze transactions and the associated tax results.
  • Collaborate with the tax compliance team to ensure tax positions and transactions are accurately reflected in financial statements according to ASC740.
  • Strategize on tax items that could impact capital directly.
  • Provide technical tax research and analysis, documenting assessments in related memorandums.
  • Participate in estimating and forecasting complex financial impacts of tax legislative changes.
  • Connect with internal business stakeholders to generate tax planning ideas and leverage internal insights for tax advantages.
  • Review tax compliance items and audit inquiry responses as needed.
  • Perform tax accounting and reporting on a US GAAP and Statutory basis.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on income tax compliance, including return preparation and review, estimated payments, and extensions.
  • Communicate tax impacts and results related to the business and strategic plan, including Effective Tax Rate (ETR) forecasting.
  • Recommend improvements for key processes within Tax.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of corporate or public general tax experience directly related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence management through clear discussions and presentations.
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management leadership skills, capable of coordinating multiple projects under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-4 years of experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Interest or experience in tax planning or advisory.
  • CPA certification.
