About the position

The Consultant Application Engineer at Schneider Electric plays a crucial role in creating innovative technological solutions for unique customer challenges in the electrical distribution sector. This position involves collaborating with engineers and acting as a trusted advisor to various stakeholders, including Electrical Consultants and C-Level Executives, to influence the design and implementation of complex electrical distribution systems. The role focuses on understanding customer needs, providing insights into industry trends, and driving strategic growth at assigned accounts, all while promoting sustainability and digital transformation in energy management.

Responsibilities

  • Become a trusted advisor with assigned Electrical Consultants, End Users, or Municipal Accounts across several market segments.
  • Influence and guide the design of complex digitally connected electrical distribution solutions.
  • Provide insights to the Product Lines relative to industry trends, competitors' actions, and code trends.
  • Translate customer needs to tie in other Schneider Electric business units.
  • Connect Electrical Consulting firms and End Users to cutting-edge offers, applications, and tools.
  • Consult with C-Level Executives, Principals, Lead Electrical Engineers, and key Staff Engineers.
  • Work with teams of Sales, Strategic Accounts, Business Development, Services, and Application Engineers to deliver solutions.
  • Interpret electrical plans and specifications to provide accurate pre-sales application and technical support.
  • Drive strategic growth at assigned accounts and serve as the lead interface for demand generation for Electrical Consultants.
  • Leverage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to assist teams from specification to closure.

Requirements

  • 6+ years relevant design, application or sales experience in Power Distribution preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • A Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is a plus.
  • Advanced experience in electrical distribution or energy management industries.
  • Advanced experience in C-Suite executive relationship building.
  • Fluency in consultative sales methodologies.
  • Experience with low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, automation, controls, or energy management technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Square D Power Distribution Equipment such as busway, panelboards, transformers, switchboards, and electrical components.
  • Experience in coaching and training peers and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers of various technical abilities.
