About the position

The Consulting Engineer - Industrial Regulatory position at Intertek involves providing independent advice on engineering and regulatory compliance to companies and government organizations. This role focuses on facilitating international trade and regulatory product testing, ensuring the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products. The position requires conducting evaluations, developing test plans, and serving as a subject matter expert in specific product categories.

Responsibilities

  • Research, read and determine applicability of national codes and standards.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Identify required testing and develop test plans under the project scope.
  • Supply information for quotes including project length, resources, samples required, and applicable standards.
  • Provide specialized expertise in one product category and maintain advanced product knowledge.
  • Coordinate and lead client meetings and discussions.
  • Provide sales support for product requirements, including direct customer presentations.
  • Communicate project status to clients, sales personnel, and management throughout the project.
  • Identify project needs and sample requirements for effective resource planning.
  • Play various roles depending on projects, such as technical reference or task organizer.
  • Delegate tasks to team members to ensure timely project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience.
  • Experience with UL and IEC standards for NRTL, CE marking, and other regulatory compliance schemes.
  • Knowledge of Machinery and Tool compliance standards such as UL 508, IEC 60204, IEC 61439, IEC 61010.
  • Strong understanding of Machinery Functional Safety requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in industries such as Industrial Controls, Oil and Gas, Transportation, Laser Technology, and Energy Storage.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • CMSE® - Certified Machinery Safety Expert.
  • Electrical, regulatory, safety, compliance experience.
  • PE License.
