About the position

The Consumer Loan Officer II at Valley Strong Credit Union is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Members and potential Members through the offering of consumer loan products. This role involves a consultative approach to understand Members' financial goals and recommend appropriate products to help them achieve those goals. The Loan Officer operates in a high-volume environment, processing loan requests and providing guidance on credit improvement when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Process new loan requests in a high-volume environment.
• Make outbound and inbound calls to Members and potential Members to offer products and services.
• Analyze loan applications and credit data to make loan decision recommendations.
• Communicate loan decisions and terms clearly to applicants.
• Provide counseling to Members on improving their credit for future applications.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of documents necessary for funding consumer loans.
• Utilize consultative sales techniques to offer a variety of products and services that meet borrowers' financial needs.

Requirements

• 1-3 years' experience in a retail banking or sales environment.
• Ability to pass various background checks, including California criminal background check.
• Experience with personal computers and basic software applications.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and write routine reports.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations and compliance training.
• Familiarity with consumer loan products and services.
