About the position

As a Consumer Loan Officer, you will play a crucial role in assisting our members with their financial and lending needs. This position requires a proactive approach to educating members about credit union products and services while adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations. You will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, processing, and documenting all necessary forms and documentation for consumer loan products. Your decisions will directly impact the approval or denial of loan applications, making your role vital to the financial well-being of our members. In this dynamic and challenging work environment, you will engage with the public in a face-to-face setting, providing exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will include interviewing loan applicants to determine their needs, reviewing documentation to secure loans, and assisting members in completing loan applications. You will also evaluate credit reports and make outbound calls to solicit loan applications, ensuring that you meet the goals set for your position. Additionally, you will determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for routine loans, notify applicants of loan decisions, and correspond with members, applicants, and creditors to resolve any questions regarding application information. Your ability to recommend and outline loan terms will be essential in informing and educating prospective borrowers about their loan commitments. Furthermore, you will manage delinquent account files and assist members with payment arrangements on loans, ensuring a comprehensive approach to member service and financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Interview consumer loan applicants and provide information on consumer loan products that best meet the member's needs.
  • Request and review all required information and documentation to secure a loan.
  • Assist members in completing loan applications over the phone and/or electronically, obtaining and evaluating credit reports.
  • Make outbound calls to members and the public to solicit loan applications.
  • Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for routine loans.
  • Notify applicants of loan decisions.
  • Correspond with members, applicants, and creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Recommend and outline terms of loan.
  • Inform and educate prospective borrowers of loan commitments.
  • Manage delinquent account files for the credit union and assist members with payment arrangements on loans.

Requirements

  • Experience working with the public in a face-to-face environment.
  • Sales-minded individual who thrives in a goal-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of credit union products and services.
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, process, and document loan applications and related forms.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State rules and regulations regarding lending.
