About the position

WaterFurnace International, headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a Consumer Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in our mission to transform energy usage and protect resources for future generations. As an SDR, you will be the first point of contact for inbound consumer prospects who have expressed interest in our renewable energy products. Your primary responsibility will be to connect with these prospects through various communication channels, including phone, text, chat, virtual meetings, and email, to qualify them for proposals from local installers. In this role, you will act as a trusted resource, answering questions, communicating the benefits of our products, assessing the needs of potential buyers, and providing tailored recommendations. You will need to be a quick learner with strong communication skills, capable of showcasing our offerings in a compelling manner. The SDR position requires a proactive approach to building relationships with prospects, local dealers, and our Territory Managers, ensuring a seamless transition for qualified leads. You will also be responsible for managing and overcoming common objections, updating lead statuses, and documenting prospect interactions in Salesforce to maintain efficient lead management. Continuous feedback will be essential to optimize our processes and enhance lead generation programs. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-energy, collaborative environment that bridges consumers, sales, and marketing teams. Some light travel may be required, accounting for up to 5% of your time.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and determine each prospect's needs
  • Educate potential buyers on the unique benefits of our renewable energy products
  • Develop relationships with prospects, local dealers, and Territory Managers
  • Manage and overcome common objections effectively
  • Update lead statuses and prospect interactions in Salesforce
  • Provide closed-loop feedback for continuous process optimization
  • Evaluate the progress and status of Consumer Prospects for optimal handoff to Dealers
  • Collaborate in a high-energy environment with sales and marketing teams
  • Engage in light travel as needed, up to 5% of the time

Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience in Inside Sales, with an SDR team, or customer support preferred
  • Aptitude for learning and ability to quickly become a subject matter expert
  • Experience with geothermal heat pumps or HVAC is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with new technologies and tools
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude despite challenges
  • Driven to set and perform against metrics/goals
  • Sales training experience, preferably in Sandler Methodology
  • Salesforce CRM experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or public relations, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales, marketing, tech support, or customer service related to geothermal heat pumps or HVAC
  • Sales training in Sandler Methodology
