About the position

The Contact Center Specialist I plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive scheduling, registration, and insurance verification services for patients. This position focuses on assisting patients with their needs, ensuring accurate coordination of physician office and outpatient hospital services, and maintaining personal connections with each patient. The role requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to address patient inquiries and facilitate their healthcare journey.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Lab, Xray, EKG, DEXA and Breast Imaging appointments
  • Accurately enter ancillary orders and interpret medical terminology
  • Obtain key items required for entering orders, such as the ordering provider and diagnosis codes
  • Accurately enter patient insurance information into the system
  • Determine if an appointment requires insurance referral or authorization
  • Read and interpret electronic verification responses for insurance
  • Address phone calls for Family Medicine and Specialty Medicine physician offices
  • Schedule appointments according to internal resource guidelines
  • Adhere to approved Escalation Protocols for patient safety
  • Create and send telephone and triage encounters to physician offices
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to address patient needs
  • Confirm patient insurance participation and coverage

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • One year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization
  • One year experience with keyboarding, personal computer use, and other office setting equipment

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience
  • One year of medical office or hospital outpatient scheduling/registration experience
  • One year of electronic medical record experience
  • One year of prior revenue cycle experience in a medical office or hospital setting
