About the position

The Contact Representative (Office Automation) position at US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA involves admitting patients, verifying health insurance coverage, and providing administrative support in a healthcare setting. The role requires proficiency in various computer systems and technologies, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff. This position is essential for ensuring smooth patient admissions and transfers, and it may involve working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Admit patients arriving as inpatients through the medical evacuation system.
  • Collect information from patients to verify existing health insurance coverage.
  • Provide counsel to patients on out-of-pocket liabilities, deductibles, pre-payments, and outstanding balances.
  • Answer questions regarding admission policy, patient transfers, air evacuation schedules, and medical specialty requirements.
  • Maintain an electronic record of patient interactions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Work with Emergency Department personnel and Nursing Staff to arrange routine transfers of patients to other healthcare facilities through Patient Transfer Service.
  • Receive and monitor daily aeromedical evacuation information from local Air Force base and identify flight manifests for incoming and outgoing patients, family members, and medical attendants.
  • Provide clerical/administrative and automation support using multiple computer systems and technologies such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of specialized experience performing administrative duties related to hospital patient admission and disposition.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Typing proficiency of 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors.
