About the position

The Container Platform Engineer position at Truist focuses on administering and supporting the OpenShift Container Platform ecosystem. This role involves designing, deploying, and managing OpenShift in a cloud-native environment, with an emphasis on automating processes to enhance performance and scalability. The engineer will contribute to the corporate Enterprise Container Strategy, manage the container platform ecosystem, and provide L3 engineering support while collaborating with team members to conduct root cause analysis and improve system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the OpenShift Container Platform ecosystem.
  • Design, deploy, and manage OpenShift in a cloud-native environment.
  • Automate processes to optimize performance and scalability.
  • Manage installation, upgrade, patching, and monitoring of the container platform.
  • Assist in change management for new versions of OpenShift and hotfixes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of issues and perform unit testing.
  • Provide technical and process guidance to junior team members.
  • Champion the use of DevSecOps practices and frameworks.
  • Develop and recommend DevSecOps best practices.
  • Liaise with the DevSecOps Center for Enablement to ensure adherence to enterprise tools and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science.
  • Ten+ years of experience in software engineering or IT.
  • At least four years of experience in git-based application code development or DevOps Engineering.
  • Foundational cloud architecture knowledge.
  • Ability to write code and construct basic application build pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience as an architect/engineer.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Understanding of air-gapped environments.
  • Knowledge of container design standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of micro-services design standards and best practices.
  • Proven track record as a Subject Matter Expert for container projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with RedHat, OpenShift, and container platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Gitlab, Azure DevOps/Jenkins.
