About The Position

This part-time, non-benefited position is designed for University of North Dakota (UND) students to assist Biomedical Sciences faculty in creating inclusive learning materials that are accessible to all learners. The role involves generating and editing descriptive image alternative text and reviewing closed captioning for accuracy.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Computer skills including file sharing and file backup.
  • Fluency in English sufficient for comparing lecture audio with closed captioning transcription.
  • Must have accepted a Federal Work Study Award from the Office of Student Finance.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits for the employed academic semester.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and edit descriptive image alternative text for Biomedical Sciences course lecture and lab images using generative AI and other resources.
  • Review lecture auto-generated closed captioning to identify and correct errors in translation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
