About the position

The Content and Copywriting Manager (CCM) at Perkins Coie is responsible for driving the delivery of high-quality content to enhance brand awareness, articulate the firm's capabilities, and improve SEO rankings. The CCM will oversee a team of 3-4 members, supporting the marketing and business development team in creating various external-facing content, including lawyer bios, event communications, and marketing assets. This role requires a strategic approach to content management and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness in communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a content framework and produce exceptional quality content including lawyer bios, collateral, and advertisement copy.
  • Implement content process improvements to prioritize high-impact content for the Marketing and Business Development team.
  • Devise a systematic approach to planning, organizing, and producing content with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 3-4 professionals responsible for drafting, editing, and publishing content.
  • Oversee the development of external-facing content related to marketing and business development efforts.
  • Review and edit lawyer-authored client updates to ensure compliance with editorial standards.
  • Set editorial guidelines for market and client-facing content to ensure consistency across mediums.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and business development team to develop effective communications for special projects.
  • Maintain the firm's style guide and conduct training for colleagues on communication style.
  • Provide oversight for various content types including blogs and client updates, expanding thought leadership capabilities.

Requirements

  • BA or MA in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or related field.
  • At least six years of marketing communications and editing experience.
  • Experience in the legal and/or professional services industry leading and managing a content team is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills with sound knowledge of AP style.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to accommodate a minimal amount of domestic travel.
