About the position

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is seeking a Content Creation Manager to join its Marketing and Communications (MarCOMM) team. This full-time position, reporting to the Director of Marketing, involves managing the agency's social media accounts and creating engaging content that aligns with MassCEC's strategic priorities. The Content Creation Manager will be responsible for writing articles, blogs, and social media posts, as well as supervising the Marketing, PR, and Digital Media Fellow. The role requires a creative individual who can film videos, design graphics, and staff events, all while collaborating with various stakeholders in the climate community. In this role, the Content Creation Manager will assist in developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy across MassCEC's channels. This includes creating and managing a content calendar, designing social media graphics, and analyzing performance metrics. The successful candidate will attend events to capture content, lead video production efforts, and work closely with the MarCOMM team to develop compelling narratives on climate-related topics. The position demands a strong understanding of current events, particularly in clean energy and climate change, and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible content for a general audience. Candidates should be prepared to work some nights and weekends, and possess a valid driver's license. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, or communications, along with 2-4 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with climate science and strong skills in various digital tools, including Adobe Premiere and Hootsuite, are essential. The Content Creation Manager will play a vital role in promoting MassCEC's mission to accelerate clean energy innovation and support a diverse and inclusive clean energy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the agency's social media accounts and create engaging content.
  • Assist in developing and executing social media strategy across MassCEC's channels.
  • Build and maintain a content calendar for social media.
  • Design social media graphics, flyers, and other materials.
  • Analyze social media performance by organizing and tracking metrics.
  • Attend events to photograph or film and create associated social posts.
  • Edit photos and manage a photo catalog.
  • Lead video production, including concepting, filming, and editing.
  • Collaborate with the MarCOMM team and stakeholders to develop story ideas and write compelling articles.
  • Translate complex scientific concepts into accessible content for a general audience.
  • Stay updated on developments in climate change and adapt content for various platforms.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Manage workload effectively and prioritize assignments based on editorial needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in digital media, marketing, communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience in digital media, marketing, communications, or social media management.
  • Valid MA driver's license.
  • Familiarity with climate science, clean energy, and current events.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Premiere, Canva, Hootsuite, and video production tools.
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and/or Photoshop required.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, particularly in social media formats.
  • Excellent research and fact-checking abilities with a commitment to accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated interest in climate policy, social justice, journalism, public service, law, or government.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and strategies for optimizing content for search engines.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom or editorial environment.
