About the position

Coe College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Content Creator. The Content Creator uses their creative spirit to develop content that captures the excitement and possibilities of life on a college campus. This writing-centric position will demonstrate the impact of a Coe education via original and trending content and campaigns within established brand standards specific to the web, video, social media, and other communications avenues at the direction of the Director of Content Development. The role is essential in generating ideas and original content for college marketing mediums based on the college's mission and strategic goals. In a fast-paced setting, the Content Creator will develop content to increase engagement and visibility of the college across social media platforms and the website. They will work as part of a team to manage and maintain the social media content calendar to ensure frequent and relevant engagement across social platforms. Additionally, the Content Creator will monitor, manage, and report on comments, interactions, engagement, and paid social media efforts while staying informed of market trends to advise the Director of Content Development, Executive Director of Marketing, and Senior Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Institutional Effectiveness. The position requires the ability to develop content in a clear and easy-to-understand format regardless of the medium and in high-pressure situations. The Content Creator must understand and apply the existing Coe College brand (tone, voice, etc.) to all work, continually analyze the website and college video platforms to make enhancements for SEO, and develop landing pages and microsites as needed. They will also serve in a supervisory role for social media student assistants and the Charlie Kohawk mascot program, contributing to other marketing efforts as needed and directed by the Director and Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 1-3 years of experience in marketing and written content development.
  • Knowledge of marketing on social platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication, listening, writing, and proofing skills.
  • Multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • An eye for photography and visuals used in social media.
  • Excellent command over written English and AP Style (or a desire to learn AP Style).
  • Knowledge of the general functionality of a website CMS is desired.
  • Knowledge of SEO or a desire to learn the basics of SEO.

  • Skills, knowledge, and experience in web-based technology to create and update content for the college.
  • Knowledge of the latest technology trends to ensure ongoing success.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions independently.
