About the position

The Content Creator at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is responsible for providing creative and design support to the organization's marketing and communications initiatives. This role involves content creation across various digital platforms, including graphic design, videography, and photography, while ensuring alignment with the VFW brand. The position also includes supporting social media strategies, producing web-optimized content, and assisting with internal communications and event coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops compelling and persuasive optimized content for various digital and social media channels.
  • Creates website and newsletter imagery, digital graphics, and print collateral.
  • Shoots, edits, and produces video, animation, and motion graphics.
  • Maintains and operates camera equipment for video and photo shoots.
  • Provides photo and/or video coverage for VFW events and programming.
  • Produces images, graphics, memes, gifs, infographics, etc.
  • Authors captions and short-form pieces in support of marketing/communications projects.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and business partners to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Creates organic content to support digital marketing efforts.
  • Produces web-optimized content and performs content updates as needed.
  • Provides video and photo coverage of annual events and coordinates with on-site teams.
  • Assists in preparing presentations and proposals for senior leadership.
  • Prepares cross-platform analytics and distribution reports as requested.
  • Assists in producing and distributing news media packages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; graphic design, marketing, or related degree preferred.
  • 4 or more years of military experience in a similar military occupational specialty (MOS) preferred in lieu of a degree.
  • Superior experience in Adobe products and video editing software.
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design and video editing.
  • Knowledge of social media technical functionality and best practices.
  • Experience with web content management systems (Sitecore experience a plus).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically in problem-solving and project implementation.
  • Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills; detail-oriented.

  • Experience with marketing communications techniques.
  • Knowledge of current veteran and military issues.
