About the position

At PayPal, we are seeking a Senior Lead Content Designer to join our dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the developer experience through a best-in-class developer portal. This role is pivotal in building relationships with developers and ensuring they have access to all necessary information and tools to seamlessly integrate PayPal's payment options. As a Senior Lead Content Designer, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals and businesses to manage their finances more effectively, and you will witness the direct impact of your work on our customers and the business as a whole. In this position, you will collaborate closely with a diverse group of professionals, including Designers, Product Owners, Researchers, Marketers, and Legal Partners, to create user experiences that resonate with users globally. Your expertise in content strategy and UX writing will be essential as you navigate the complexities of designing experiences tailored for developers. You will leverage your understanding of SDKs, APIs, and technical language to craft content that is not only informative but also engaging and user-friendly. Your daily responsibilities will include planning and writing UX content for various platforms, including web and mobile experiences. You will work alongside Design teams to refine page layouts, interactions, and visual tone, ensuring a cohesive user experience. By utilizing data-driven insights, you will identify experience gaps and customer pain points, allowing you to propose effective solutions. Additionally, you will define a clear strategic direction for content within the developer experience space and coordinate with other content designers to share valuable insights from customer research. Your role will also involve evaluating the impact of your content through data and research, driving continuous improvement to achieve tangible results.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and write UX content for web and mobile experiences across all touchpoints including navigation, user interface copy, emails, in-app notifications, chatbots, and help.
  • Collaborate with Design on page layout, interactions, and visual tone.
  • Use data-driven insights about experience gaps and customer pain points to brainstorm and build proposed experience solutions.
  • Drive the definition of a clear and actionable strategic direction for content in this problem/solution space.
  • Coordinate and advise content designers on other teams to share context and clarity gleaned from customer research.
  • Use data and research to evaluate content's impact and push for continuous improvement that shows tangible results.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional writing experience for web or mobile content.
  • Excellent, highly creative writing and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience working with content standards, such as style and voice and tone guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set stakeholder expectations, and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience in financial services, payments, B2B or B2C e-commerce is preferred.
  • Experience writing for developers or technical writing experience is important.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Design, Information Science or related field preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in software engineering or software integrations.
