About the position

Halvik is seeking a Content Editor/Technical Writer to join our growing Communications team. This role is essential in supporting NASA SEWP by providing expert-level proofreading, document editing, fact-checking, and verification to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance in all written materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, and proofreading a variety of documents, including white papers, newsletters, website copy, training documents, and other communication materials. Timely delivery of error-free content is crucial to support our organizational communication efforts. In this position, you will develop and implement department-wide standards for content, style, and format, providing technical guidance and support to authors with varying levels of writing and editing proficiency. You will also write and edit technical documentation for SEWP project requirements, which includes training materials, user guides, internal procedures, implementation guides, and end-user manuals. Standardizing documentation through the creation and implementation of templates for all document types is a key responsibility. Additionally, you will manage a diverse portfolio of technical content, overseeing the content production process from initial concept to final publication. Ensuring that all deliverables meet rigorous quality standards, comply with NASA's guidelines, and adhere to ADA / Section 508 standards within specified deadlines is paramount. Collaboration with various teams to align all internal and external communications with organizational messaging and branding will also be a significant part of your role. You will maintain a document library to ensure easy storage, retrieval, updates, and reviews of all technical documents.

Responsibilities

  • Expert-level proofreading, document editing, fact-checking, and verification to maintain accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
  • Providing technical writing support to document program deliverables, functions, and processes.
  • Creating, editing, and proofreading various written materials, including white papers, newsletters, and website copy.
  • Ensuring error-free deliverables on time to support organizational communication efforts.
  • Developing and implementing department-wide standards for content, style, and format.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to authors with varying levels of writing and editing proficiency.
  • Writing and editing technical documentation for SEWP project requirements, including training materials and user guides.
  • Standardizing documentation through the creation and implementation of templates for all document types.
  • Preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, including organizational-wide guides and user documentation.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of technical content, overseeing the content production process from initial concept to final publication.
  • Collaborating closely with various teams to align internal and external communications with organizational messaging and branding.
  • Maintaining a document library for easy storage, retrieval, updates, and reviews.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent writing ability.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to last-minute changes.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding grammar, spelling, punctuation, and written language skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs, including Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Must provide portfolio/samples of work.
  • A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of editing/writing experience for a publication or corporation.
