About the position

Maryville University is seeking a skilled Content Manager specializing in copywriting to join the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications. This role focuses on creating engaging content across various platforms, managing external writing vendors, and ensuring content quality and consistency. The successful candidate will support the development of content strategies that align with the university's branding and communication goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of content strategies that align with Maryville University's branding and communication goals.
  • Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of content, including website copy, magazine articles, promotional materials, grant proposals, and reports.
  • Manage and coordinate content projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and brand guidelines.
  • Supervise and collaborate with external vendors and freelance writers, maintaining high standards of quality and cohesiveness in all outsourced content.
  • Analyze content performance metrics and use insights to optimize future content strategies and improve engagement.
  • Maintain a consistent tone and style across all communications, reflective of the university's values and the needs of our diverse audience.
  • Work closely with other departments to gather information and craft accurate content that meets their needs and goals.
  • Work with the SMC team to develop concepts and content for campaigns aimed at boosting enrollment, fundraising efforts, and promoting special events.
  • Generate and manage content for social media platforms, aligning with broader communication strategies and engaging directly with audiences.
  • Assist in writing statements and updates during crises that affect the institution.

Requirements

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience managing external vendors and coordinating with freelance writers.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in content management systems and digital marketing tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in organizations with a complex organizational structure.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and analytics tools.
  • Experience in grant writing or fundraising content creation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
