About the position

The Content Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a comprehensive content marketing strategy that aligns with the company's branding, product positioning, and lead generation objectives. This position is designed for a remote candidate, although there is an option to work on-site at various California locations, including Mountain View, San Diego, and the SF Bay area. The contract is set for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on budget approval and mutual fit. The hourly rate for this position is $52. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a content agency to produce high-quality, engaging, and informative blog content and other materials aimed at assisting small business owners in their operations. Key responsibilities include optimizing content for search engines to enhance traffic, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure content aligns with marketing campaigns, product updates, and seasonal initiatives. You will also be tasked with maintaining content hygiene and analyzing performance metrics to refine and improve content marketing programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing diverse content projects related to product go-to-market strategies, audience engagement, content hygiene, and SEO improvements. Strong partnership skills are essential for collaborating with different teams, and a creative, analytical, and strategic mindset is crucial for managing content across various platforms, including social media, influencers, and video content. You should be adept at creating hypotheses, uncovering web and content insights, and providing actionable recommendations for optimization. Additionally, you will manage a content calendar, schedule, and agency briefings, ensuring that all content is reviewed and edited for SEO and accuracy. Familiarity with both on-page and off-page SEO is required, along with exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to take strategic direction, research necessary tactics, and create a structured execution process is vital. You should be self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple concurrent initiatives while demonstrating practical problem-solving skills and effective time management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a content marketing or editorial role for a digital or B2B company.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide data-driven insights.
  • Knowledge of current trends in content marketing and SEO best practices.
  • Experience using content management systems, analytics platforms, and reporting tools such as Ahrefs, Google Search Console, or similar.
  • Experience using analytics tools for reporting such as Adobe Analytics, Tableau, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and other CMS is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing content for social media, influencers, and video platforms.
  • Comfortable knowledge level of technical SEO.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
